Bellevue native Jamie Sanidad is a performing oboist, private instructor, and reed maker in the Seattle area. She recently completed her Master of Music degree at the University of Washington, studying with Seattle Symphony principal oboist Mary Lynch and leading the oboe studio as its Teaching Assistant. In addition to serving as principal oboe in the UW Symphony Orchestra, she performed internationally with the UW Wind Ensemble during its multi-city China tour in 2019. She previously received her Bachelor of Music degree from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where she studied with Linda Strommen and performed with conductors such as Marzio Conti, David Effron, Arthur Fagen, and Thomas Wilkins.
Ms. Sanidad has performed at institutes including the National Music Festival (Chestertown, MD), Brevard Music Festival (Brevard, NC), Miami Music Festival (Miami, FL), and Sewanee Summer Music Festival (Sewanee, TN). Also a freelance artist in the greater Seattle area, Ms. Sanidad has performed with the Seattle Opera, Bellingham Chamber Chorale, and Emerald Ballet Theater (Bothell, WA), and has recorded for the Seattle Film Institute.
As a private instructor, she maintains a healthy studio of students ranging from age ten to late twenties and leads oboe sectionals in middle and high school bands in Bellevue. Also a teaching assistant at a Mercer Island-based reed making camp, she demonstrates the reed making process for middle and high school students and helps them make their own reeds. Founder and business owner of PNW Reeds, she makes and sells oboe reeds and gouged cane through her online marketplace. When she is not practicing or making reeds, Ms. Sanidad enjoys watering and taking care of her many houseplants.
